Night Nurse: The Best of Gregory Isaacs - Classic Reggae Album for Relaxation & Romantic Evenings

The late Gregory Isaacs had a voice that glided effortlessly from note to note with a lovely timbre. Somewhat like a Rastafarian Lou Rawls, his voice defies you not to be seduced. His Jamacian reputation was the smooth loverman, and many of his songs are songs of seduction--but he also wrote political songs. The basic sound is fundamental roots reggae--the bare bones bass and drums and reggae guitar, often supplemented with deep rootsy dub.This compiliation includes many of his best songs, including from the great Night Nurse LP. While Night Nurse is the high point of his career--as well as the single greatest album the great Roots Radics ever made--his other music deserves a listen. Black a kill black is an incredible song.This anthology deserves a place in any serious reggae collection. Unfortunately, too many Gregory Isaacs LPs seem opportunistic, and skimpy--this is a full feast of the cool ruler's best work.
