I liked everything about this cd. Enya’s music can be energetic and mood-lifting, and can also be soft, calming, good stress relief, mood-lifting.Very nice musicThis album contains the basic Enya along with a couple of new cuts. Of the two new cuts, I discovered "Only If", light and frothy as it sounds on first play, to be quite intricately crafted and could possibly be on a future "best" collection. The title song is nice, but just not the best of her work. And then we come to the 14 selections for the best. My only disagreement with the selection is "On My Way Home" from "The Memory of Trees" instead of "On Your Shore" from Watermark. Other than that, I am surprisingly in complete agreement as to what is Enya's best...that doesn't usually happen. First, I like every title instrumental with the ethereal voices..."Shepherd Moons" being my favorite, but "The Celts", "Watermark", and "The Memory of Trees: each definitely among her best work. Secondly, since "Shepherd Moons" is my favorite of her CD's, I was quite happy with the total of five selections from it. If the powers that be had selected an additional song from Watermark--if not "On Your Shore", then "Exile" or "Evening Falls"--instead of "On My Way Home", I would've been happier. As it was, four cuts are from "Memory of Trees" and only three from "Watermark". That I disagree with, but realize that each person has their favorites and are just as welcome to their preferences as I am to mine. There are only two cuts from "The Celts", and again, I agree. "The Celts" is a very cohesive album, but outside of the title cut and "Boadica", I didn't feel that it had individual standouts. So there's my opinions, and I'm sure many will disagree, but I do think that all will agree that you should have this CD in your collection...as an introduction to Enya if you haven't had one yet...and as a different perspective on the familiar material for those who already have her other CD's. This might be an unique perspective, but I honestly feel that by changing the order of her songs, one gets a different reaction in hearing the sequence. Just one of my nutty ideas...LOLBottom line, hey, get this CD whether or not you have most of the songs on it already...you'll love it.Going on a trip and wanted music I like to listen too. When I first saw/listened to an Enya video (Orinocco Flow) on MTV or VH1 back in the early 90's/late 80's - I thought she was... ...nice... ...but a wee bit...whacked. Or tootie-freakie. Or whatever. With all the "...hoo! hee! ooh! ahh! oh! hoo! ahh! ee! oh! hoo!, etc." background..."lyrics"...Then, a few years later, over a period of several months, a mildly crazed former girl friend force-fed Enya (and 90's country music...) down my throat. Whether I dang well wanted to listen to it or not. Well...over an extended period of time of this force-fed diet...I...began to...like Enya. In fact, I became mesmerized especially by "Watermark" and "Storms over Africa"? or...one of her other songs. That was about 10 years ago...it's 2004 now. And except for a rare occasion here and there - I have not listened to any Enya music at all. However. After wandering about and subsequently stumbling onto Enya on this site over the past week or two - I found myself nigh brought to my knees in tears over the wondrous beauty of this fair maiden's music. It is so Beautiful. And relaxing. And hypnotic, and just plain nice! It makes you feel good about yourself...and life...and just...everything!Also - one of the tune samples from one of her albums here confirmed my delighted suspicion that one of Enya's Lovely songs ("Book of Days") is the theme song for the "Out of Ireland" television program, broadcast on Public Television. (That I recently discovered a few months ago). All things considered, I am not much the worse for wear after being musically abused by a former moderately maniacal girlfriend. (Who I am still very good friends with).Wonderful.Said the item was used but in good condition but it was still factory sealed with the Warner logo!! Even though I’ve bought this album at least five times in my lifetime (Enya’s first greatest hits compilation, “Paint The Sky With Stars: The Best of Enya”) it gets better each time I listen to it (I’m on approximently my 10,000th listen lol). Thanks for the super fast shipping and brand new album for $5I had thought that I had all of the songs that were on this CD until I looked a bit closer.Turns out that there were a bunch of releases - not in my collection. So purchase it - I did!It is kind of a strange thing to consider a best of Enya. She and her group produce more memorable recordings per release than most other musicians. In my opinion Shepherd Moons, A Day Without Rain and Amarantine are all "Best of" CD's.Her songs have been used in films and TV shows - still often used to set a majestic mood. [...]They are always recognizable even without vocals and although they can't be considered classics they stir one's emotions as classics do.The weird thing is that her music seems to always be "around."Strangely enough - so many quality recordings - offer the casual fan an extremely large comfort zone. It seems almost impossible that a "next" CD could ever be better than what has already been created. The casual fan is happy with what they have and only the avid fan always needs more.Even if you think that you have them all - you will be surprised that this CD offers gems that you may not have known existed.CasloWhat can be said about Enya what hasn't already been written in other reviews? What a beautiful melodic and haunting voice she has! I've noticed that TV programmes use a lot of her songs as incidental music, and why not! Enya used to be in the band Clannad with her relation Màire Brennan,so it's no wonder she's so talented. After a long stressful day, put on an Enya cd and let yourself relax. Sounds even better through headphones!!!When I bought this Best of Enya, I was hoping it would include a song which I personally feel could be the best I've heard yet, but I didn't know the title! Well, it wasn't on this cd, but I did subsequently discover the title and found that cd; so I am blessed. The title? "Only Time".Now I can listen to Only Time, and all the other "Best of", and there's quite a selection on Paint the Sky with Stars; easy, relaxing listening.Enya is one of my favourite artists but I was missing a few cds.Her music is so lovely and haunting at times.Excellent CDVery soothing and relaxingCd arrived, very quickly, excellent serviceA lot of very good songs from a genuine musician with a wonderfully relaxed voice. It is romantic and slushy, but absolutly brilliantly vocative if you go with it. Enya has plent of great songs that aren't here, but these are all good.
